Glasgow Wheelchair Rugby Club
As part of our continued support to those affected by a spinal cord injury, we have been proud supporters of the Glasgow Wheelchair Rugby Club (previously Caledonian Crushers) since 2014 - the only wheelchair rugby club in Scotland.
This inspirational club began in 2010 with the goal to get more people in Scotland involved in wheelchair rugby. Based in Glasgow, they attract players from all over the country.
In 2012/13, they made their introduction in the British Wheelchair Rugby League and have gone from strength to strength ever since.
How Glasgow Wheelchair Rugby Club can help
Wheelchair rugby is a fast paced, full contact sport available to men and women from most levels of disabilities. It enables those with a higher level of disability the opportunity to take part in a sport when there is seldom few options to choose from.
Along with improving your fitness, it also increases well-being and confidence for everyone by travelling to various competitions, and meeting, playing and socialising with an entire new group of friends.
The club encourage anyone interested in volunteering and players of all levels, experience and disabilities to take part in wheelchair rugby.
How our support makes a difference for Wheelchair Rugby
Paul Black, Head Coach at Glasgow Wheelchair Rugby Club, said: "The players and support staff at the the Glasgow Wheelchair Rugby Club are really appreciative of the continuing support from Digby Brown to allow us to run our club which enhances the wellbeing of individuals with life changing illnesses and disabilities.
"We use these funds to enable our weekly training sessions to be held at Tollcross Sports Centre each week. We will also use it to cover accommodation costs when we travel to tournaments as we are the only wheelchair rugby team in Scotland we need to travel to England to take part in the British league."
At Digby Brown, we are fully committed to helping people after a spinal cord injury and are proud to support sports such as Wheelchair Basketball and the Glasgow Wheelchair Rugby Club along with our long-term commitment to the charity Spinal Injuries Scotland.
