Cerebral Palsy Scotland

Digby Brown has close ties with Cerebral Palsy Scotland, formerly known as Bobath Scotland, a charity devoted to improving the quality of life for children and adults with cerebral palsy, including providing specialist therapy services.

The charity aims to help people with cerebral palsy build skills, confidence and relationships. From individual therapy for adults and children to organised group activities, Cerebral Palsy Scotland provides specialised support and services to those living with cerebral palsy and their families.

They also are at the heart of campaigning for lifelong access to caring services and support. 

Digby Brown's support for Cerebral Palsy Scotland

The firm first helped Cerebral Palsy Scotland when it was chosen as the firm’s Charity of the Year in 2013/14. Since then, we have continued to support the charity in a variety of ways.

This includes supporting their annual World Cerebral Palsy Day conference which began in October 2014. This event welcomes everyone: families, healthcare professionals, legal experts and care providers. The day is very much focused on coming together to share our knowledge and experience of the issues affecting those living with cerebral palsy.

Over the 10 years we have been supporting this event, the event has grown from strength to strength. We even held the event virtually during COVID restrictions to ensure those with experience of cerebral palsy could connect with each other. 

The event hosts talks on various informative topics including medical, personal and employment issues. There is also an exhibition where people can network with various charities, businesses and other organisations aimed at helping those with cerebral palsy. 

Stephanie Fraser, CEO of Cerebral Palsy Scotland spoke about how much the partnership means to the charity, especially when it comes to the annual conference. 

What is cerebral palsy?

Cerebral palsy is a life-long condition and is caused by damage to the brain before, during or up to two years after birth.

The damage affects the messages sent from and received by the brain and how the brain interprets these messages. Areas affected can include mobility, communication, fine motor skills, vision, hearing, perception and learning.
