"You SHALL go to the panto!" Digby Brown supports festive fun in Dundee
More than 100 people from Dundee got to enjoy a magical Christmas panto last week following a festive ticket giveaway.
‘Saving Santa’ was held at The Space performing arts theatre in Dundee between December 13-18.
The tongue-in-cheek story centred around business giant ‘Glamazon’ taking over the Christmas delivery route after Santa fell ill.
It is the first time the Jazz Hands Productions drama group has performed since 2019 (due to lockdown). Our sponsored ticket bundle meant children, the elderly and other vulnerable people could enjoy the theatrical experience.
Flora Bannerman, Digby Brown’s CSR Manager, said: “We knew we had to help save Santa and get him his job back in time for Christmas!
“We were delighted to sponsor over 100 tickets to this unique experience as giving back to communities matters.
“Hopefully this has helped many people have a great time and make some great, lasting festive memories.”
Glasgow Partner Sarah Douglas also attended the pantomime with her two children.
She noted the audience had a great time, adding: “We left with big smiles on our faces and feeling very festive – well done to all involved.”
But one key benefit of the ticket giveaway was the boost it offered to four key Dundee charities:
- Dundee Bairns
- Stobswell Forum
- Rock Solid
- BeFriends
Genna Millar, Project Coordinator at Dundee Bairns, said: “A massive thank you to all at Digby Brown – it's such a difficult time of year for so many people but it’s so important for families to be able to make memories together.”
Colin Clement, Chairperson at Stobswell Forum SCIO, said: “This will be a tough Christmas for so many but the opportunity to let children laugh and have a good time will bring much needed joy.”
Audrey Thomson, Managing Director of Rock Solid, added: “It was a fantastic night, everyone put their worries aside for a few hours and had fun with lots of much needed laughs."
While Niamh Filan, Project Worker at BeFriends Dundee, said: “There was so much laughter and singing from our group from start to finish. Thanks to Digby Brown Solicitors for giving us the opportunity to attend.”
In addition to the ticket giveaway, there were also collection buckets at The Space in aid of the Dundee office local charity partner, the British Heart Foundation - generous theatre-goers helped generate £327.50 over the 6 days.
