Digby Brown runners complete £4,000 charity efforts
Digby Brown staff created a bumper weekend for charity support after taking on – and completing – two iconic challenges.
Sam Whyte, media manager in our Edinburgh office, chose to take on the gruelling hilly Loch Ness Marathon (the first time he ever attempted the 26.2 miles).
While four others from our Aberdeen and Glasgow offices stormed the half marathon and 10km routes of the Great Scottish Run.
And what made the efforts more incredible was all our runners’ efforts took place on Sunday 2 October.
Sam – the Loch Ness Marathon
He was inspired to do something to help Clydebank Asbestos Group and Asbestos Action after working with sufferers of mesothelioma – a terminal cancer caused by asbestos exposure. Sam completed the 26.2 mile run in 4hrs 9mins and raised £1,604.
Kim – the Great Scottish Run
Kim MacLennan, senior solicitor from our Aberdeen office, ran the half marathon at this year’s Great Scottish Run to raise money for her office’s charity partner, AberNecessities - a local charity that supports under-privileged families across Aberdeenshire by providing essential childcare items. Kim completed the 13.1 mile run in 2hrs 1min and raised £515.
Euan, Gary & Jordan – the Great Scottish Run
All three of these dedicated solicitors form part of our Industrial Disease Team. Like Sam, they aimed to support Asbestos Action and Clydebank Asbestos Group because every day they help people affected by asbestos-related diseases. All three crossed the line and generated £2,001 in donations to support those affected by asbestos-related disease.
Kirsten Smith, CSR Manager at Digby Brown said:
“At Digby Brown we care for today and the future – and that extends to our local communities and the local initiatives and support groups who so many people and families rely on for vital care and support services.
“We are a firm that is passionate about actively supporting vital causes and groups across Scotland through various sponsorship, volunteering and fundraising initiatives whether it’s through individual or team efforts.
“All five of our runners showed dedication in their efforts – with both the fundraising and the training – and they should be proud of all they have achieved.”
