Painless compensation process with lawyers in Ayr
Mrs Cameron broke her hip after she slipped on wet tiles leaving a store. She was off work for over three months as a result of her injuries.
“It wasn’t pleasant, I was off work and needed a lot of help around the house. I was in a lot of pain as I needed an operation. Even now, two years later, I still suffer from disturbed sleep.”
Ayr lawyers for personal injury compensation
Damian White, Partner and Head of our Ayr office, acted on behalf of Mrs Cameron and pursued her personal injury claim against the store owners.
“The process was absolutely painless, I did very little and everything was done by Damian. I signed a few things giving him consent to access my medical records and that was it. He took hold of everything and it was a lot easier than I expected it to be.”
Store inspection by local council
The Environmental Health Department at the local council carried out a full investigation after the accident and their report was highly critical of the shop and the state of the tiled flooring where Mrs Cameron fell.
If the shop had carried out a risk assessment, it would have become clear that customers were in danger of slipping when it was slightly wet as they left the store. This accident could have been prevented with anti-slip precautions and appropriate signage.
Interim payment of £3,900 secured
After our lawyers proved the store was at fault and they admitted liability, it was possible to request an interim payment before the case settled fully.
Due to the nature of Mrs Cameron’s injuries, it was recommended to wait a year to ensure there were no future implications from her injuries.
The insurer agreed with our lawyers and provided some compensation, totalling £3,900, for Mrs Cameron’s injury and wage loss following the accident.
“I didn’t expect to receive as much compensation as I did”
Our lawyers collected expert medical evidence and wage loss to fight for the compensation Mrs Cameron was entitled to. With backing of no win no fee funding, our lawyers were able to threaten court action if necessary.
In the end, the store insurers offered compensation of £35,900 including the interim payment.
“I was over the moon with the result. I wasn’t expecting much more than the interim payment so I was very surprised with the final compensation - I didn’t think it would be anything like that.
“I would tell anyone to get in touch with Digby Brown, the service was 10/10. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone."
